Licence and Subscription differences
GameMaker currently offers both Licenses and Subscriptions for the use of the IDE. GameMaker Free is a Free perpetual Licence that allows users to use the IDE with a wide range of targets (except Console) to be used for Non-commercial use.
GameMaker Professional is a paid perpetual Licence that comes with all the same targets but allows users to upload and publish games for Commercial use.
GameMaker Enterprise is a Subscription that allows Commercial use as well as access to all exports (Console included).
More information can be found by visiting our Pricing Page.
How are licences & subscriptions displayed in the dashboard?
Let’s take a closer look at the account page and the information that will be displayed there.
In the account’s dashboard, all purchased subscriptions/Licences are shown under the Subscription tab and previously purchased licences are available under the Purchases tab.
Please note that having an active licence (for example GameMaker Enterprise) will be displayed at the top of the page, other licences can display here and in the purchases at the bottom.
Missing export options in IDE
If your IDE is missing the export options that are included in the currently owned licence/subscription, then the following steps should be completed:
1. Delete the three files from the next locations
If you are using a Windows OS:
-
- %AppData%\Roaming\GameMakerStudio2\um.json
-
%AppData%\Roaming\GameMakerStudio2\YOUR USERNAME\license.plist
- %ProgramData%\GameMakerStudio2\ui.log
If you are using a MacOS:
-
- ~/.config/GameMakerStudio2/um.json
- ~/.config/GameMakerStudio2/[YOUR USERNAME]/license.plist
- /Users/Shared/GameMakerStudio2/ui.log
2. Log out of IDE [File > Logout] and back in again
3. Follow the given prompts
