Licence and Subscription differences
GameMaker licenses are no longer available for purchase. Existing lifetime licenses can be upgraded to a GameMaker subscription if desired. Note: doing so does not revoke the licence - you can return to using it at any time.
GameMaker subscriptions offer a wide range of the exports such as web, mobile and console exports. Each account is assigned a ‘Free’ subscription until an upgrade is purchased- see here . If you hold a lifetime licence for GameMaker - you’ll still see ‘Free’ as this is the default value for all accounts.
More information can be found by visiting our Subscriptions FAQ or GameMaker Subscriptions Product.
How are licenses & subscriptions displayed in the dashboard?
Let’s take a closer look at the account page and the information that will be displayed there.
In the account’s dashboard all purchased subscriptions are shown under the Subscription tab and previously purchased licenses are available under Purchases tab.
Please note that having an active licence ( for example GameMaker Creator) is solely displayed under the Purchases tab.
Missing export options in IDE

If you are using a Windows OS:

- %ProgramData%\GameMakerStudio2\ui.log
If you are using a MacOS:
-
- ~/.config/GameMakerStudio2/um.json
- ~/.config/GameMakerStudio2/[YOUR USERNAME]/license.plist
- /Users/Shared/GameMakerStudio2/ui.log
2. Log out of IDE [File > Logout] and back in again
3. Follow the given prompts
